Here, you won’t find a lot of ‘think yourself positive’ talk

Honestly, I believe there’s a damaging bias within mainstream psychology and coaching industries, where positive mindset work is misused as a band-aid fix, or to bypass deep feelings and experiences that simply don’t have a positive reframe.

This bias can stop us from going beyond the surface to really get to know ourselves… And, it can frame complex and collective challenges of oppression, violence and trauma as individual mindset issues to ‘think’ ourselves out of.

The reality is that forcing positive thinking can be damaging to our resilience and our emotional awareness…by keeping us from truly knowing our own emotional landscape and deepening our understanding of how to support ourselves through different emotions. 

And, for those of us with trauma histories, or living within oppressive spaces and structures, an approach based solely on cognitive reframing dismisses lived experience and ignores the felt experience of the body.

I don’t hold all the answers, but I’m an innovative and creative thinker who has supported many folks over the years, to connect with their hearts, and see through tangled webs of thoughts and feelings, to find their next step forward - and, most importantly, their own answers.

Much like a seedling in nature, we also need the space, time & nutrients to process our experiences, connect to our aliveness, grow & bloom.
